Course Description
This qualification reflects the role of barbers who use a range of well-developed sales, consultation and technical skills and knowledge to provide clients with a broad range of barbering services. They use discretion and judgement to provide client services and take responsibility for the outcomes of their own work.
This qualification provides a pathway to work as a barber in any industry environment, usually a barber shop or salon.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites required to enter the Certificate III in Barbering.
Prior to enrolling in this course, students must complete the Victorian International Academy Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment and Pre-Training Review interview so we can assess the suitability of this course to meet your needs. For a successful enrolment, students should be 18 years old. Students under 18 will need to meet additional entry requirements, including parent/guardian consent and if no longer attending school, students will also need permission from the Department of Education and Training.
Selection for enrolment in our courses will be approved for applicants who meet the qualification entry requirements. In line with Government policy, students with intellectual and physical disabilities and who meet the entry criteria are encouraged to participate in training.
Skills First
Students may be eligible for subsidised training under the Victorian Government’s Skills First Program.

SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing – Victorian International Academy
Entry Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites required to enter the Certificate III in Barbering but students wishing to undertake this qualification as an Apprenticeship must be employed in a suitable workplace in a part time or full time role.
Prior to enrolling in this course, students must complete the Victorian International Academy Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment and Pre-Training Review interview so we can assess the suitability of this course to meet your needs.
